The Jade Cat is the story of three women, three generations and one family.  Based on a true family history as told by Suzanne Brøgger in her critically acclaimed Danish novel, the film follows three women throughout the sweep of the 20th century, as Katze, Li and Zeste Løvin struggle with their unruly passions, trying to tame those passions and giving meaning to their lives.  It's a time of change for women, when the dominance of clan gives way to individualism, when women struggle to unshackle themselves form the control of men, from the traps of maternity and sex.  The Løvin women join this fight on the battlefields of love, war, business and art.  Will the Løvin family sustain them or destroy them? Will the family itself be destroyed? Or will it rise from the ruins, stronger than before?
